2014 Dodge Dart Interior
Dodge Dart has one of the nicest cabins in its class, and it does that better than you move on the scale of trim level. Whereas competing just add leather upholstery or trim faux metal to improve the atmosphere, the Dart is slathered on additional surfaces padded dash sewing and flares colorful garnish.
We highly recommend springing for the touch interface 8.4-inch infotainment available, you can get with or without the navigation system. It offers simple menus, large buttons on the screen and an accompanying button that whipped through the iPod menus a breeze. Processing times are fast, too, and if you need to enter a destination on the move, the voice command works surprisingly well. In 2014 Dodge Dart without this interface, the standard stereo head unit branch awkwardly in the same place, which reinforces the idea that you missed something better.
There is a good space for occupants in the front, but the front seats of the Dart are curiously shaped and feel like they are mounted too high. As a result, long-legged drivers may find they cannot sufficiently reduce the seat cushion down for optimum comfort. In addition, steering wheel has the limited range of tilt adjustment, so you may find that you can not place that is low enough.
Meanwhile, the rear seat offers plenty of legroom for adults, but six footers can miss margin. Trunk capacity is 13.1 cubic feet, an average in this class. Although the chest contains a decent amount of speed, hinges on the lid are exceptionally low, making it very easy to accidentally close the trunk when loading bulky or heavy objects. Sharp metal protrusions of the upper deck of the trunk (you can scratch your hands on them when loading a lot of luggage) are another inconvenience.
2014 Dodge Dart Engine
Three engines are available for 2014 Dodge Dart. The base SE model comes with a four-cylinder 2.0-liter that produces 160 horsepower and 148 lb-ft of torque. A six-speed manual transmission is standard and a six-speed automatic is optional. In performance testing, a manual-shift Dart with 2.0 engines accelerated from zero to 60 mph in 9.9 seconds, a slow time for a compact sedan in this price range. The EPA estimates the manual version and 29 mpg combined, while automatic rate 27 combined.
Standard Aero is a 1.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that makes 160 hp and 184 lb-ft of torque. A six-speed manual transmission is standard and a six-speed automated manual is optional. In testing, a Dart with the turbo engine and manual transmission has hit 60 mph in 8.3 seconds, good time for this class. The 2014 Dodge Dart automated manual transmission only added to 0.3 seconds that time. Economy EPA-estimated fuel is 32 combined (28/41) with the conventional manual and 32 combined (28/40) with the automated manual.
Standard on SXT, GT Limited and is a four-cylinder 2.4-liter that produces 184 hp and 171 lb-ft of torque. The 6-speed manual transmission is standard on the 2014 Dodge Dart SXT and 2014 Dodge Dart GT, while a six-speed automatic transmission is optional on those trims and standard on the Limited. The EPA estimates for the 2014 Dodge Dart and Limited are 27 mpg combined with manual, automatic is the same, but has a rating of 23 mpg city.
