2014 Acura ILX Hybrid – The Acura ILX is the nameplate for Honda’s upscale division, a front-wheel drive compact sedan intended to give potential buyers a place in premium classes.  The 2013 Acura ILX generally replaces the slightly larger TSX as the division’s most affordable offering, the first Acura for the $30,000 base price since 2009 model year.

While it is entirely new for Acura, there is much about the 2014 Acura ILX adapted from Honda inventory. Specifically, the fundamental platform, model lineup, and power-trains all started with the latest Honda Civic sedans. But this is not to say the 2014 Acura ILX Hybrid is basically the re-badged Civic: there are so many hardware distinctions that there are similarities. For example, while the basic parts ILX standard 5-speed automatic employee of its humble Honda cousin, the transmission is paired with the 2.0-liter 4-cylinder version of the engine generates 150 horsepower, compared with 140-horsepower 1.8-liter in mainstream Civic.

Importantly, while the basic architecture is shared, chassis and car body dimensions differ between the Civic and ILX. The 2014 Acura ILX Hybrid rides a shorter wheelbase (105.1 inches versus 106.3), and is longer, lower and the wider than Civic sedan: The 2014 Acura ILX Hybrid measuring 179.1 inches overall, 70.6 inches wide and 55.6 inches tall. Moreover, the 2014 Acura ILX Hybrid is distinguished by its own front axle geometry. Instead of adopting Civic front struts, employs the compact Acura the more sophisticated, the more expensive and double wishbone system.

There is no common plate between Honda and Acura. The 2014 Acura ILX Hybrid cottage is furnished with high quality material, without any sign of the internal savings program that reduces the past Civics and ILX advantage of more sound deadening measures. Acura also claims higher stiffness for Acura ILX’s unibody, although the company refrain from furnishing the details on that.

Inside, the Acura ILX contain nothing that is likely to remind anyone of the Honda Civic. The materials are of high quality, instrument panel design has a distinctive Acura taste, strongly reminiscent, in particular, of the layout of the TSX. While many automakers are about to touch-screen control, the variety of buttons and knobs controls many of the secondary controls in ILX ‘s center console, with a good many duplicates attached steering wheel hub.

The front seats are moderately supportive (no one will confuse them with anything from a BMW), but comfortable and adjustable enough to fit a variety of body types and physical dimensions. That, plus the tilt/telescope steering column provides a good driving position. The seats are upholstered with fabric in the basic car but the leather is available as part of the Premium package, which includes heated front seats, power adjust-ability for the driver’s seat, rear-view camera, active noise cancellation and seven-speaker 360-watt premium sound system with the USB port, Bluetooth audio, Pandora internet radio interface, SMS text messages.

The navigation system, which is incorporated into the technology package, real-time traffic information, includes the voice recognition, real-time weather, and a satellite communications feature that keeps track of your appointments. Other elements of package include upgrade of audio features are also included in the Premium package.

2014 Acura ILX Hybrid Engine

The 2014 Acura ILX lineup comes with a choice of three power-trains. The ILX 2.0L ($25,900) comes with the 150-hp 2.0-liter 4-cylinder. The Acura ILX comes standard with the cloth upholstery, the 160-watt audio system with six speakers, automatic climate control, FM/AM/CD with RDS readout and the MP3 and WMA compatible, USB interface for iPod, auxiliary input, Pandora Internet radio interface, Bluetooth HandsFreeLink, SMS messages, Keyless Access System with smart entry and push button start, tilt/telescope steering wheel, power moonroof, 16-inch alloy wheels with 205/55HR16 Continental ContiProContact M + S tires.

Premium Package ($3,300) upgrades ILX 2.0L with leather seating surfaces, the heated front seats, the power driver’s seat, an upgraded 360 watt stereo with XM Radio, Xenon headlights, fog lights, 17-inch aluminum wheels armed 215/45VR17 Michelin Pilot HX MXM4 M + S deck, the multi view reversing camera and an Active Sound Cancellation system to make for the quieter cabin. ILX 2.4L ($29.200) comes with the 201-hp 2.4 liter engine. The ILX 2.4L comes standard with the Premium Package and its leather upholstery and all the other functions above. The optional Technology Package ($2,200) upgrades further with ELS Surround sound system including AcuraLink Satellite Communication System, the Acura Navigation System with Voice Recognition and  the AcuraLink Real-Time Traffic with Traffic rerouting, AcuraLink Real-Time Weather with radarbildkartoroch HomeLink garage door opener. The navigation system utilizes a hard disk drive (HDD) with 60 gigabytes of the storage capacity, including the 15 gigabytes that can be specifically allocated for music storage.

2014 Acura ILX Hybrid Price

The 2014 Acura ILX 2.0L  price is $25,900, and 2014 Acura ILX 2.4L,  2014 Acura ILX Hybrid 1.5L is $29,200, $28,900.
