The 2017 BMW i8 is the first BMW Concept Vision Efficient Dynamics is a plug-in Hybrid Sports Car developed by BMW. The 2017 BMW i8 is part of BMW’s “Project i” and as a new brand, BMW i market. The 2015 model year BMW i8 has a 7.1 kWh lithium-ion battery pack that an all-electric range of 37 km (23 miles) under the new European Driving Cycle (NEDC) supply. Under the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) cycle, the range in EV mode is 24 km (15 miles) with a small amount of gasoline consumed. The design is strongly influenced by the BMW M1 Homage Concept.

The 2017 BMW i8 can go from 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 4.4 seconds and a top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph). The BMW i8 has a fuel consumption of 2.1 liters per 100 km (134.5 mpg Imp; 112.0 mpg-US) under the test NEDC with carbon emissions of 49 g/km. EPA rated the BMW i8 combined fuel economy of 76 equivalent (MPG-equivalent) and twenty-nine miles per gallon when running on pure gasoline down (to the battery drained empty).

The initial turbodiesel concept car unveiled at the 2009 International Motor Show Germany. The production version of the BMW i8 unveiled at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show. The i8 is released in Germany in June 2014 deliveries to retail customers in the US beginning in August 2014 Worldwide sales since the middle of 2014 amounted to more than 10,000 BMW i8s by early November 2016 i8 the world’s best-selling plug-in electric sports car. The best-selling markets are the United States, the United Kingdom and Germany.

2017 BMW i8 Special Edition

The special edition 2017 BMW i8 Protonic Red Edition model was unveiled at the 2016 Geneva International Motor Show. The Protonic Red Edition manufactured at the BMW Plant Leipzig from July 2016. This special edition car sports a Protonic Red paint finish with accents in a frozen gray metal. The colour scheme is complemented by BMW W-spoke 470 light alloy wheels painted in orbit Grey metal hubs painted aluminium mat and mixed-size tires (front: 215/45 R20, rear: 245/40 R20). Inside the car has red double stitching and applications in a high-grade carbon fibre and ceramic trim.

2017 BMW i8 Roadster

The 2017 BMW i8 Spyder concept unveiled at the 2012 Beijing Auto Show. In October 2016, BMW announced the roadster variant for the BMW i lineup would be added in 2018. The 2017 BMW i8 Spyder is expected to take a longer distance battery.
