The 2014 Buick Regal gets a lot of exciting changes for the new model year, including a new turbo engine, styling changes and a redesigned center console. On the exterior, the grille has been slightly tweaked and modified LED taillights now extend into the boot lid. 17-inch wheels are standard, while higher levels of finish offer 18 -, 19 -, or even 20-inch wheels. Unlike the Regal Turbo AWD tires with low rolling resistance had no wheelspin at all in any way. However, there was some hesitation from standstill regardless of the technique, and I feel the power is being “managed” until sometime in the middle of 1st gear. After this, the power feels reasonably linear and might even assume it’s the V6 instead. Gear ratios work well with this engine and upshifts are smooth. Well, trap speeds indicate wide consistent engine cooling/turbo. Semisolid Pedal with extensive backgrounds remained so from the first to the last stop, with a linear and constant stability and little fade. The first stop was the longest, the second was shorter.

The Regal 2014 offers two different Powertrain options. Norma is a mild hybrid system, which Buick calls ” eAssist ” that combines an electric motor and a four-cylinder 2.4-liter. It produces 182 HP total forces and comes with a six-speed automatic transmission. The Turbo and GS trims both get a new engine this year, the 259 -HP, 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that makes a robust 295 pounds -feet of torque. A six-speed automatic is standard here too, but the GS offers a six-speed manual as well. Transmission models with eAssist become the best fuel economy 25/36 mpg city/highway. Opt for the 2014 Buick Regal Turbocharged engine drops those numbers to 21/30 mpg city/highway.

The Buick shuffled the deck a bit. Now there is only one available in the Regal turbo engine, a 2.0- liter four-cylinder that produces 259 horsepower and 295 pound- feet of torque. 2014 Buick Regal comes standard on all models, but the GS gets some performance tweaks to help deliver better performance. More remarkable is the fact that the revised engine can be configured to send its power to all four wheels. Does the extra traction to offset the power loss? We took it to the track to find out.
